Over 60 Jeeps Rescued After Landslide Blocks Route to Saiful Muluk Lake

Naran, KP: More than 60 jeeps carrying tourists were safely evacuated late Friday after a heavy landslide, triggered by a sudden cloudburst, blocked the road to Saiful Muluk Lake in the Kaghan Valley’s Naran region.

The landslide followed intense rainfall in the upper reaches of the valley, causing debris and mud to slide onto the narrow, mountainous road leading to the lake — a popular tourist destination in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

The incident stranded dozens of vehicles, including families with women and children, as they attempted to return from the lake amid worsening weather conditions.

Rescue efforts were promptly launched by the Kaghan Development Authority (KDA). Its Engineering One unit deployed heavy machinery to clear the debris, restoring access within a few hours.

“All stranded tourists and vehicles have been evacuated safely,” a KDA spokesperson confirmed.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of long lines of jeeps halted by rubble, while social media footage showed concerned tourists waiting for assistance in the rain.

Authorities have advised tourists to monitor weather updates and travel advisories before visiting mountainous areas during the ongoing monsoon season.
