Over 12,500 Police Officers Assigned for Rawalpindi Elections

Rawalpindi: Over 12,500 police personnel, along with over 4,000 officials from other law enforcement agencies, are assigned to undertake election security duties in the Rawalpindi division.
Rawalpindi Region Police (RPO), Syed Khurram Ali, on Tuesday finalised all the arrangements for the 2024 general elections scheduled to be held on February 8.
RPO Khurram Ali stated that for the upcoming elections across four districts in the Rawalpindi region, over 12,500 police personnel and more than 4,000 officials from various law enforcement agencies will be assigned security duties.
He said that there are 5,490 polling stations established across 13 National Assembly constituencies and 26 Provincial Assembly constituencies in the division.
Regarding sensitivity levels, he indicated that there are 694 polling stations categorized as A, 1,371 as B, and 3,425 as C.
Khurram Ali also briefed about the installation of 2,519 CCTV cameras for monitoring from a central control room, which will be complemented by control rooms set up in all districts and a central one in the regional office.
He also mentioned that joint flag marches and full dress rehearsals have been conducted by police forces and other law enforcement agencies in Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, and Chakwal. Ensuring the implementation of the Election Commission of Pakistan’s code of conduct is a priority, with all available resources being utilized to maintain law and order before and during the election, as stated by Ali.
He further elaborated that police parties and personnel from other law enforcement agencies will conduct patrol duties, especially in sensitive areas.
