Over 12,000 Security Officials to Guard Peshawar Polling Stations

Peshawar: More than 12,000 security personnel will be stationed at 1,280 polling stations in Peshawar, the capital of the province.
Chief City Police Officer (CCPO) Syed Ishfaq Anwar announced the formulation of an extensive security plan for the upcoming general elections in Peshawar on Wednesday.
Addressing the media, CCPO Anwar mentioned the inclusion of Frontier Constabulary personnel at 500 sensitive polling stations, where monitoring will be enhanced through CCTV cameras. He detailed the establishment of 695 polling stations per mile, 543 polling stations per mile, and 42 joint polling stations in Peshawar.

Anwar revealed that additional security measures would include the deployment of Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) teams, including female personnel, the Ababil Squad, and the Quick Response Force (QRF) at joint polling stations.
Among the 1,280 polling stations, 150 are categorized as normal, 630 as sensitive, and 530 as extremely sensitive. Consideration is being given to implementing surveillance tools such as door cameras and body cameras in sensitive polling stations.
The CCPO emphasized that, except for voters, no unauthorized individuals would be permitted inside the polling stations. Furthermore, he announced a ban on the use of mobile phones by policemen on duty during the elections.
