Islamabad: The Islamabad district administration has stepped up efforts to regulate online bike and taxi services, registering more than 1,200 drivers and taking action against 26 unregistered vehicles as part of a citywide enforcement drive.

Officials said the initiative aims to ensure that only verified ride-hailing drivers operate on the capital’s roads, improving passenger safety and regulatory oversight. The registration process is continuing across Islamabad, with all approved drivers being integrated into the City App dashboard for real-time monitoring.

According to the administration, enforcement teams have launched field operations against bike-hailing and in-drive services operating without approval. During recent inspections, 26 unregistered bikes and cars were stopped and proceeded against for violating regulations. Authorities said such actions would continue to discourage unauthorized operations.

To enhance transparency, registered drivers are now required to display a QR code on their bikes or vehicles. Passengers can scan the code to instantly verify a driver’s registration status before starting a ride. Officials said the system enables citizens to make informed decisions and helps enforcement teams quickly identify compliant operators.

The registration facility has been made available through the City App, which includes a dedicated dashboard allowing drivers to submit required information, track application status and receive confirmation upon approval.

The district administration said the broader objective of the drive is to bring all online bike and taxi services under a unified monitoring framework to strengthen accountability and ensure compliance with local regulations.

Citizens have been advised to avoid using unregistered services due to potential safety risks, while drivers have been urged to complete registration promptly to avoid penalties and ensure uninterrupted operations.
