Over 100 Children Dead Amid Road Blockade

News Desk

Parachinar: The death toll of children in Parachinar, reportedly due to a lack of medical facilities caused by prolonged road closures, has exceeded 100, sparking public outrage and protests.

For the sixth consecutive day, citizens in Parachinar are staging a sit-in against the two-and-a-half-month-long road blockade. The closure has led to severe shortages of food and medicine in the area.

Tehsil Chairman Upper Kurram, Agha Muzammil, stated that the blockade has deprived citizens of essential resources and medical treatment, resulting in the tragic deaths of over 100 children.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Kurram confirmed that a Grand Peace Jirga has arrived in the district to initiate negotiations aimed at restoring peace and resolving the crisis.

In solidarity with Parachinar’s residents, the Majlis-e-Wahdat Muslimeen organized protest sit-ins at Karachi’s Nagan Chowrangi and the Lahore Press Club.

However, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Information Advisor Barrister Saif dismissed the reports of over 100 child deaths as “baseless and fabricated,” asserting that all essential medicines are being supplied to the district daily.

The situation remains tense as negotiations and protests continue.
