Organised Bazaars Replace Pushcarts in Lahore’s New Pilot
News Desk
Lahore: Punjab’s first “Sahulat on the Go Bazaar,” also known as the “CM’s Sahulat on the Go Bazaar,” has emerged as a popular initiative aimed at providing dignified employment to pushcart vendors while offering citizens essential goods at affordable prices.
Launched under the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the project has allotted over 400 stalls to pushcart vendors through an open lottery system. In the first phase, Sahulat on the Go Bazaars have been established at 10 locations across Lahore.
The bazaars at Gulshan-e-Ravi, Shadman, Madar-e-Millat, Medina Market, Township, Sundar Road, Kotha Pind, and Faisal Town have been made fully functional, while additional bazaars are operational in Kharak Nala, Awan Town, Valencia, and Shahdara.
These bazaars offer fruits, vegetables, chicken, and grocery items at DC rates, along with facilities such as security arrangements, cleanliness systems, washrooms, and drive-thru shopping, providing convenience to shoppers and vendors alike.

The project is being further expanded, with Sahulat on the Go Bazaars scheduled to become operational at five more locations in Lahore by February. Bazaars in Barki, Saddar, Nishtar Town, Raiwind Phase II, Faisal Town, Moon Market, and Ferozwala are currently in the final stages of completion.
Shopkeepers benefiting from the initiative expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister, saying the project had transformed them from pushcart owners into regular shopkeepers by providing an organized and dignified working environment. They added that essential items previously available only during Ramadan bazaars at subsidized rates would now be accessible throughout the year.
Official sources said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed the phased expansion of Sahulat on the Go Bazaars across Lahore and other parts of Punjab. She termed the initiative a reflection of the vision of Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for a clean and beautiful Lahore, emphasizing that development is meaningful only when it benefits even the poorest segments of society.
The Chief Minister noted that vendors who previously worked under the open sky now have proper shelters, appreciating the efforts of the Punjab Sahulat Bazaar Authority in implementing the project.
Meanwhile, Chairman Punjab Sahulat Bazaar Authority Muhammad Afzal Khokhar said the establishment of Sahulat on the Go Bazaars would help reduce the need for subsidies traditionally provided during Ramadan bazaars by ensuring year-round availability of essential goods at regulated prices.
