Oranges Highly Nutrient-Dense, Says Health Expert

Islamabad: Oranges should be a regular part of your diet since they are high in the vitamin B complex, as well as minerals like salt, potassium, calcium, and copper; and they have around 2.5 times more calcium than other citrus fruits.

Health Expert Dr Mehreen Raza said that oranges’ antioxidant capabilities may help lower HIV risk as well as cancer risk. It can help maintain healthy skin and encourage anti-aging characteristics.

She further apprised that oranges are a great source of vitamin C, thiamine, folate, and potassium, among other vitamins and minerals. About 70 mg of vitamin C, or 78 per cent of the daily required dose, can be found in one medium-sized orange.

According to some research studies, oranges may aid in lowering the production of cancer-causing free radicals. Oranges include a substance called D-linonene, which is also known to help prevent cancer.

Health expert informed that oranges’ folic acid content can help the brain function develop. Due to its anti-inflammatory qualities, it is also a great diet for lowering the risk of arthritis or other joint-related problems.

Oranges are high in fibre, which can aid with digestion and weight loss by making you feel fuller for longer. Dr Mehreen stated that oranges include flavonoids and polyphenols that support the body’s defence against viral infections. APP
