One Killed, 18 Injured in Two Landmine Blasts in Balochistan

Balochistan: At least two workers were killed and 18 others injured in two landmine blasts that occurred in Daki district of Balochistan on Thursday, sources at the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) said.

As per Dawn News, SHO Daki stated that the initial mine explosion occurred as a coal-loaded truck passed by, with the second blast happening after bystanders had gathered at the scene. 

It is to mention here that recent years have seen a surge in terrorist activities and assaults on security forces across the nation, particularly in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, targeting both security personnel and civilians, including foreign visitors.

According to a Dawn newspaper report citing statistics from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies in Islamabad, April witnessed 77 confirmed terrorist attacks in the country, resulting in 70 fatalities. Among the deceased were 35 civilians, 31 security personnel, and 4 terrorists killed during these incidents.

During this time, 67 people were injured, including 32 civilians and 35 security personnel. 

In comparison, there were 56 terrorist attacks in March, resulting in 77 deaths and 67 injuries, a 38 percent increase in the number of terrorist attacks in April compared to March, and a 9 percent decrease in fatalities.
