Islamabad: Oman will host the inaugural International Hockey Federation (FIH) Hockey Nations Cup 2 (men), set to take place from February 17 to 23, 2025, in Muscat, according to a press release.

This new FIH event, aligned with the “More opportunities to compete” goal of the FIH Empowerment and Engagement strategy, will allow eight national teams—those ranked just below the teams in the FIH Hockey Pro League and FIH Hockey Nations Cup—to compete for promotion to the 2026 FIH Nations Cup.

Participating teams include Austria, Chile, China, Egypt, Oman, Poland, Scotland, and the United States.

“Hosting the inaugural FIH Nations Cup 2 in Oman is an honor and demonstrates our commitment to advancing hockey in the region,” said Dr. Marwan Juma Al Juma, Chairman of Hockey Oman.

“We look forward to welcoming global teams and fans to experience Oman’s enthusiasm for this sport.”

FIH President Tayyab Ikram also commended Oman’s leadership, adding, “Oman has become the nation of ‘firsts,’ hosting the inaugural FIH Hockey5s World Cup and now the FIH Hockey Nations Cup 2. The world can expect the same outstanding hospitality.”

The women’s host nation for this tournament will be announced soon.
