OIC’s Pledge To Protect Cultural Treasures from Traffickers

Islamabad: The Culture Ministers Conference is concentrating on cultural issues in order to improve coordinated cultural activity in the areas of cultural planning and development indicators, and combating the criminal trafficking of cultural property, said National Heritage and Culture Caretaker Minister Jamal Shah.

Jamal Shah participated in the 12th Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Culture Ministers in Doha Qatar on Monday.

We are trying our best to strengthen our creative economy by consolidating our cultural and heritage resources, and mobilising our communities, stated Jamal Shah.

Pakistani people are hospitable and we need to highlight the correct image of the country at the global level, Minister said, adding that the ministry is actively promoting the preservation of Pakistani cultural heritage at the local, national and international levels.

The promotion of national heritage and culture among the people can only prevent society from social ills like hatred and intolerance, and bring peace and stability, Caretaker Minister remarked,

Our future generations need to be instilled with the idea of ownership and promotion of local languages, Culture Minister added. APP
