Islamabad: Following a large-scale operation against protestors, normalcy is gradually being restored in the federal capital as business activities resume and educational institutions are expected to reopen tomorrow.
The district administration’s cleanup efforts are underway, with the removal of containers that had blocked key roads across the city. Authorities have confirmed that roads, which had been closed due to the protests, are now accessible.
Cleanup operations, led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad Irfan Memon, are focusing on removing obstacles from crucial areas, including the Red Zone. Assistant commissioners have been instructed to clear their respective zones to ensure smooth movement.
DC Memon stated that all available resources are being utilized to swiftly clear the roads, with the goal of having them open for public use by morning.
“We aim to reopen the roads for citizens as quickly as possible,” said Memon, underscoring the administration’s commitment to resolving the situation.
The cleanup also extends to major highways, with a focus on ensuring that roads remain safe and accessible. In parallel, efforts to clear Murree Road, which had been sealed off for three days due to the protests, are ongoing.
In another positive development, following the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party’s decision to call off its protests, all motorways have reopened for traffic. Key routes between Islamabad and Lahore are now restored.
Motorway police confirmed that Motorway M-2, connecting Lahore and Islamabad, and Motorway M-11, linking Lahore to Sialkot, are once again operational. Additionally, Motorways M-4, M-14, and M-3 have resumed operations.
