Noor Jahan tune on loudspeaker lands man in police custody

Kasur: Police have arrested a man in Pattoki tehsil of Kasur district for playing a Noor Jahan song at high volume in violation of the Punjab Loudspeaker Act, 2015.

According to police officials, the suspect was taken into custody from the Habibabad area for playing the melody queen’s song on a loudspeaker, causing public disturbance. The police also seized his amplifier and speaker as evidence.

A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against the man under sections of the Loudspeaker Act. A video of the incident showing the man listening to music on loudspeakers has also surfaced online.

Authorities said the arrest followed the Punjab government’s recent directives for strict enforcement of the Loudspeaker Act and the establishment of whistleblower cells in every district to encourage citizens to report violations or suspicious activities.

The Loudspeaker Act, 2015

The Punjab Sound Systems (Regulation) Act, 2015, prohibits the use of sound systems that create public nuisance, cause disturbance, or spread content likely to provoke disorder.

The law states that it is unlawful for any person to use or allow the use of a sound system that produces “loud, unnecessary or unusual noise” or any sound that may “annoy, disturb, injure or endanger” the comfort, peace, or safety of people within or beyond the vicinity.

Under the Act, sound systems cannot be operated near educational institutions, courts, hospitals, or public offices during working hours in a way that disrupts normal activities.

Police officials said further investigation into the case is underway.

Sialkot man held for firing video on social media

Meanwhile, the Sialkot  Police on Friday arrested a man for uploading an aerial firing video on social media.

According to police sources, a team from Police Station Hajipura traced the suspect, identified as Irfan, son of Qamar, through modern technology and recovered an illegal weapon from his possession.

Following the incident, the video caused panic among local residents, who reported the aerial firing to the authorities.

Police have registered a case against the accused and initiated further investigation.
