Islamabad: Cold and dry weather is expected to grip most parts of the country until February, with no further rain or snowfall in sight, Director Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Muhammad Irfan Virk said on Monday.

Talking to a private news channel, the PMD director said the current spell of snowfall has ended, and northern areas are unlikely to receive any more snowfall, though cold conditions will persist.

He said temperatures would remain low across the country, with severe cold forecast for hilly regions during early morning and nighttime hours.

Virk warned that dense to moderate fog is likely to affect visibility in several plain areas, particularly Punjab, Upper Sindh, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, potentially disrupting travel during late night and early morning hours.

Giving a regional outlook, he said Islamabad and adjoining areas will experience cold and dry weather, with fog formation expected during the night and early morning.

Most districts of Balochistan are also likely to remain cold and dry, with severe cold conditions in northern parts during morning and night, he added.

Meanwhile, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to witness cloudy weather, which will further intensify the winter chill in hilly areas.
