Bahawalpur: Two bogies of the Pakistan Express 45-Up derailed on Sunday between Kalanch Wala and Mubarakpur railway stations, approximately 15 kilometers from Bahawalpur, halting train operations on the Lahore-Karachi main line.

According to Pakistan Railways sources, the train was traveling from Karachi to Rawalpindi when the incident occurred. The derailed bogies included an Air-Conditioned Standard coach and a Dining Car.

A preliminary assessment suggests the derailment was caused by a technical fault. Fortunately, no injuries or loss of life were reported.

Following the incident, rail traffic on the Lahore-Karachi track was suspended to facilitate the rescue and recovery operation.

Several trains en route from Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi were stopped at nearby stations including Liaquatpur, Dera Nawab Sahib, Sama Satta, and Bahawalpur.

Railway officials confirmed that necessary machinery and personnel were dispatched to the site, and efforts to restore normal train operations were underway. Authorities expressed hope that the track would be cleared and reopened shortly.

Further investigation into the cause of the derailment is expected once the rescue operation concludes.
