NICL Employee Fired Following Harassment Investigation
News Desk
Islamabad: The Federal Ombudsperson for Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace (FOSPAH), Fauzia Viqar, has taken strong action against workplace harassment by ordering the dismissal of Zubair Soomro, an employee of the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL), under Section 4(4)(ii)(d) of the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010.
The complaint was filed by Sadia Zaman, a colleague at NICL, who reported that Soomro misbehaved, abused, and threatened her over the telephone. Zaman sought justice for the harassment and abuse she experienced.
After a comprehensive investigation, FOSPAH issued the maximum penalty under the law, ordering Soomro’s dismissal. Subsequently, NICL terminated Soomro from his position.
This decisive action underscores FOSPAH’s strong commitment to ensuring safe, harassment-free workplaces for women across Pakistan. The Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010, empowers individuals to report harassment incidents and guarantees timely and equitable justice.
