New Zealand’s Ravindra Injured Attempting Catch

Lahore: New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra endured a nasty blow to the head while attempting a catch during his team’s ODI victory over Pakistan at Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.
Fielding at deep square leg, the 25-year-old appeared to misjudge the trajectory of the ball under the stadium’s floodlights as he moved to dismiss Khushdil Shah.
The impact resulted in a deep cut on his forehead, causing blood to stream down as concerned spectators watched on.
Medical staff rushed to his aid, and after receiving treatment on the field, Ravindra left with a bandage pressed firmly against his injury.
“Ravindra was forced from the field after being struck in the forehead while attempting a catch in the 38th over,” a New Zealand Cricket spokesperson told Cricinfo.
“He sustained a laceration to the forehead, which was treated at the ground, but he is otherwise well. He passed his initial Head Injury Assessment (HIA) and will continue to be monitored under standard HIA protocols.”
Earlier in the match, Ravindra contributed 25 runs off 19 balls at the top of the order as New Zealand posted an imposing total of 330-6. The team went on to secure a 78-run victory.
The match was part of a tri-nation series, also featuring South Africa, serving as a warm-up for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy later this month.
