New Zealand Need 107 Runs for Victory After Sarfaraz, Pant Heroics
News Desk
Bengaluru: On a rain-hit fourth day of the first Test, New Zealand are set to chase 107 runs for victory after notable performances by India’s Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant.
The tourists, aiming for their first Test win in India since 1988, will resume on Sunday after bad light and rain halted play.
Sarfaraz scored a remarkable 150 in his fourth Test appearance, and Pant added 99, building a 177-run partnership that brought India back into the game after trailing by 356.
However, fast bowlers Matt Henry and William O’Rourke led New Zealand’s comeback, with each taking three wickets to bowl India out for 462.
New Zealand’s openers Tom Latham and Devon Conway came to bat, but play was called off after just four deliveries.
O’Rourke, who finished with 7-114 across both innings, remains confident about their chances on the final day, despite challenging conditions.
