Islamabad: Although high blood pressure doubles the risk of serious complications for people of all ages, a new study has found that hypertension increases the risk of dementia in middle-aged people.
Hypertension is the term used for patients with high blood pressure and this disease is common worldwide and affects about one and a half billion people.
High blood pressure increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, vision and multiple organ failure.
But now a study in Argentina has shown that high blood pressure increases the risk of dementia by several percent, while middle-aged people may be more affected by this risk.
According to the medical journal, Argentinian experts examined the health of more than 1,200 people with high blood pressure.
Experts found that people over 45 and under 55 had a 28 percent increased risk of developing dementia after high blood pressure.
According to experts, in men and women of the same age, high blood pressure increases the risk of mental complications like other diseases.
Experts said that high blood pressure also reduces the function of the brain, including the heart, kidneys and liver, and middle-aged people are more prone to developing mental complications and especially dementia due to high blood pressure.
According to experts, a surprising number of middle-aged people are unaware that they have high blood pressure and do not seek treatment for it, which increases the risk of mental complications.
