Netflix To Release Pak’s First Original Series With Star-Studded Cast

Islamabad: Entertainment streaming website ‘Netflix’ will soon release the Pakistan’s first original web series ‘Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo’ which is being produced under the banner of ‘Momina Duraid Films’.
American showbiz website ‘Variety’ has reported that the series has been cast by major actors which stars Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, Ahad Raza Mir, Sanam Saeed, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Bilal Ashraf, Maya Ali, Hania Aamir, Khushal Khan, Nadia Jameel, Umair Rana, Iqra Aziz, and Samina Ahmed.
The story of the web series will be based on Farhat Ishtiaq’s novel of the same name and will be shot in Britain and Italy, apart from Pakistan.
The story of the novel revolves around a young man named Sikandar who is a law student at the famous Harvard University but his life takes many unique turns and a new turn at that time. It comes when, in the European country of Italy, he meets an artist named Lisa, who has a very painful past.
It is not yet clear how many episodes the said web series will be based on or when it will be released, but it is likely to be released next year.
Momina’s production house is taking the reins and its previous works, including ‘Bin Roye’, ‘Chand Tara’ and ‘Fairytale’, have demonstrated her ability to craft narratives that evoke both emotion and authenticity.
The show’s commission comes from Netflix’s Middle East and North Africa team, indicating the streaming giant’s commitment to diverse storytelling from the region.
This is not the first time Farhat’s literary genius has been adapted for the screen. Her previous works, including several hit serials, ‘Humsafar’, ‘Mere Humdum Mere Dost’, ‘Matae Jaan Hai Tu’, ‘Diyar-e-Dil’, ‘Bin Roye’ and ‘Yaqeen Ka Safar’ for Pakistani television.
It should also be noted here that the first original web series from neighbouring India was released by Netflix in 2016 as ‘Sacred Games’, after which dozens of films and web series have been released there.
Similarly, Netflix’s first Arab original web series for the Middle East was released in 2018, but in 2022, Netflix also began producing Arab content in the Middle East.
Recently, Netflix released the teaser for the first Saudi Arabian original web series and announced its release on September 6.
