Kathmandu: Eighteen-year-old Nepali mountaineer Nima Rinji Sherpa returned to Kathmandu as a national hero after becoming the youngest person to summit all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks.

Sherpa completed the final ascent on October 9, reaching the summit of Shisha Pangma, Tibet’s 8,027-meter-high peak.

Cheering crowds and family members welcomed him at the airport, where he expressed his gratitude while draped in traditional scarves and garlands.

Sherpa’s achievement puts him among an elite group of mountaineers, with only around 50 people successfully completing the daunting challenge.
