Nehal Hashmi Appointed Sindh Governor
News Desk
Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the appointment of Nehal Hashmi as the new Governor of Sindh, following the recommendation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
In a statement, the President congratulated Hashmi on his appointment and extended his best wishes for his tenure in office.
The appointment has drawn a strong reaction from coalition partner Muttahida Qaumi Movement–Pakistan (MQM-P). Senior party leader Farooq Sattar told Geo News that the party was repeatedly informed that Kamran Tessori would continue in office.

“We have an agreement with the Pakistan Muslim League (N), not with the Pakistan Peoples Party,” Sattar said, criticizing the decision and suggesting that the PML-N prioritizes the PPP over MQM-P in coalition matters.
He added that MQM-P chairman Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui will convene a party meeting after Iftar to discuss the Governor’s change and determine a principled position.
Political analysts note that the appointment is likely to test relations between the PML-N and MQM-P within the coalition government at the center.
