Neglected Graveyards in Rawalpindi Draw Public Concern

Rawalpindi: Graveyards across Rawalpindi city are in a state of neglect, with many presenting a dismal and unsightly appearance due to poor maintenance and lack of cleanliness.
Prominent cemeteries such as Jadeed Qabristan, Alif Shah, Pir Choa, Shah Di Talian, Ratta Amral, Pir Wadhai, Chaklala Scheme 3, and Dhok Lakhan are reported to be in deteriorated condition.
These graveyards are overrun with wild bushes, strewn garbage, and broken boundary walls, leaving them in an unhygienic and disrespectful state.
Residents, particularly those from the Umer Road area, have expressed strong dissatisfaction over the state of Jadeed Qabristan.
They noted that during the holy month of Muharram, when many visit graves to offer prayers, the unclean environment and damaged infrastructure deeply hurt the sentiments of visitors.
Locals have urged the concerned authorities to take immediate action to clean and rehabilitate these sacred spaces, restoring their dignity and ensuring they are properly maintained.
