NDMA Warns of Landslides, Floods in Northern Pakistan

Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning to the public as northern Pakistan braces for rain and snowfall through March 16, heightening risks of landslides, glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs), and travel disruptions.

In a statement shared with media outlets, an NDMA spokesperson said local administrations and relevant departments have been instructed to maintain heightened vigilance and preparedness. Officials cautioned that the combination of rainfall, snowfall, and rising temperatures could trigger flash floods, avalanches, and landslides in mountainous areas.

The weather system is expected to affect entity[“place”,”Gilgit-Baltistan”,”northern Pakistan region”], Azad Kashmir Pakistan”], and the upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
