NDMA Confirms 234 Deaths, 596 Injuries Across Pakistan

Islamabad: Torrential monsoon rains and flash floods have claimed at least 234 lives and injured 596 individuals across Pakistan since June 26, according to the latest data released by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
The disasters have also damaged 826 houses, killed 203 livestock, and forced thousands into distress as rains continue to wreak havoc across the country.
Casualties by Region and Gender
The report highlights a devastating toll on children, with 113 of the 234 deceased being minors. The fatality breakdown includes:
- Punjab: 135 deaths (48 men, 24 women, 63 children)
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP): 56 deaths (16 men, 10 women, 30 children)
- Sindh: 24 deaths (9 men, 4 women, 11 children)
- Balochistan: 16 deaths (5 men, 4 women, 7 children)
- Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK): 2 deaths (1 man, 1 child)
- Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT): 1 child death
- Gilgit-Baltistan: No fatalities reported
Injuries and Regional Impact
The monsoon also left 596 people injured, including 231 men, 144 women, and 137 children:
- Punjab: 470 injured (189 men, 144 women, 137 children)
- KP: 71 injured (30 men, 13 women, 28 children)
- Sindh: 40 injured (7 men, 6 women, 27 children)
- Balochistan: 4 injured (2 men, 1 woman, 1 child)
- Gilgit-Baltistan: 3 injured (1 woman, 2 children)
- AJK: 8 injured (3 men, 2 women, 3 children)
Rescue and Relief Operations
NDMA has carried out 62 rescue operations, successfully evacuating 450 people from flood-prone areas. In coordination with provincial and local disaster management authorities, the NDMA has established 27 relief and medical camps to support affected communities.
Relief Supplies Distributed
To aid the victims, NDMA has dispatched 3,349 relief items, including:
- Shelter and Bedding: 349 tents, 358 blankets, 266 quilts/sleeping bags, 76 mattresses, 41 plastic mats
- Essential Supplies: 554 kitchen sets, 305 mosquito nets, 25 hygiene kits, 35 jerry cans, 88 tarpaulins, 59 miscellaneous items
- Food and Water: 153 food packs, one ration bag
- Emergency Equipment: 95 dewatering pumps, 10 gabions, 200 charpais, 201 gas cylinders or stoves, 30 life jackets, 3 boats
NDMA confirms that relief and rescue operations are ongoing, as Pakistan continues to grapple with the deadly monsoon season. The authority is working closely with all stakeholders to ensure timely assistance and mitigate the suffering of vulnerable communities.
