Islamabad: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday chaired a high-level meeting at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Headquarters, reviewing ongoing and planned development schemes for Islamabad.

The meeting approved a number of infrastructure and civic projects, including construction of a flyover at T-Chowk and an underpass at Shaheen Chowk, with groundbreaking expected in early September.

The minister also directed CDA to initiate an operation against encroachments across the city, instructing relevant authorities to clear affected sectors by September 30.

Naqvi emphasized that private housing societies would be required to follow regulations, warning that violations would lead to disciplinary measures.

Progress on several long-pending housing sectors, including C-14, C-15, C-16, E-12, and I-12, was reviewed. Officials were asked to accelerate development so possession could be handed over to allottees.

CDA was also tasked with preparing detailed development plans for new sectors C-13, D-13, E-13, and F-13.

In addition, the meeting gave the go-ahead for Phase One of the Diplomatic Enclave Upgradation Project, covering road improvements, security measures, and public amenities. Plans to remodel Daman-e-Koh for visitors, as well as the December 31 target for completing groundwork on two five-star hotels, were also discussed.

Officials briefed the minister on other initiatives, including progress on the Model Jail project and the allocation of land for a new Capital House.

The meeting was attended by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, CDA members, and senior officials from law enforcement and district administration.
