Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday visited the National Police Academy, where he reviewed ongoing projects to upgrade facilities and address the shortage of accommodation.
During the visit, Naqvi directed the fast-track construction of an eleven-storey hostel comprising 126 rooms, assigning a five-month completion deadline. Inspecting the site, he stressed that “speed must not come at the expense of quality.”
The minister also visited the Academy’s swimming pool, observed a swimming competition among trainee officers, and encouraged probationers and instructors. Later, he toured classrooms, interacted with trainees, and joined ASPs at the Officers’ Mess to personally assess food quality. He also sought feedback and suggestions from the probationers.
Naqvi chaired a review meeting at the Academy to assess progress on earlier decisions, including institutional reorganization and trainee officers’ attachments with the FIA, forensic agencies, Safe City projects, and cybercrime units.
Briefing the minister, the Deputy Commandant said approval has been granted to award MS degrees in Criminology and Police Studies to ASPs completing the National Command Course. Training also includes regular field visits to police stations and specialized institutions.
Trainee ASPs expressed appreciation for the improvements at the Academy. Senior officials, including the Deputy Commandant, the Chief Commissioner Islamabad, and CDA engineering members, were also present.
