NADRA registers over 2,943 trans persons

ISLAMABAD: National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has registered over 2,943 transgender persons so far from all provinces, including Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Out of the total, the authority has registered 2,159 transgender persons from Punjab, 491 from Sindh, 144 from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and 104 from Balochistan, as per the official data released by the registration authority.
Similarly, as many as 30 transgender persons have been registered from the federal capital followed by 14 from Azad Jammu and Kashmir and one from G-B.
Moreover, computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC) have been issued to 1,148 from June 2018 to Feb 2022.
