NADRA Invites Hackers to Safeguard National Identity Systems

Islamabad: Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched its first-ever Bug Bounty Challenge 2026, a nationwide initiative aimed at fortifying the country’s digital ID infrastructure while cultivating the next generation of cybersecurity experts.
The challenge, developed in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the National Cyber Emergency Response Team (PakCERT), invites ethical hackers, university students, and cybersecurity professionals to detect and report vulnerabilities in NADRA’s systems, promoting a culture of responsible digital security.
Unlike conventional security audits, the Bug Bounty Challenge emphasizes team-based problem solving and advanced ethical hacking practices, offering participants an opportunity to test their skills in a real-world environment.

Regional rounds kicked off on January 27, 2026, at top institutions including GIKI Swabi, NUST Islamabad, UET Lahore, NED University Karachi, and BUITEMS Quetta, before culminating in a grand finale at NADRA Headquarters in Islamabad.
NADRA highlighted that the initiative is part of a broader “security-by-design” approach, ensuring Pakistan’s national identity ecosystem remains resilient against cyber threats.
The organization has also been upgrading its digital ID framework, integrating contactless fingerprints, iris scans, and facial recognition into the verification process to bolster accuracy and security.
