Islamabad: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued a warning against a fraudulent website impersonating its official visa portal, highlighting ongoing efforts to protect citizens from online scams.

In a statement on social media platform X, NADRA identified the malicious site — https[:]//www[.]visa[.]nadragov[.]online, which falsely claims to provide visa services. The authority stressed that the site is not affiliated with NADRA and may be used to illegally collect personal information or payments.

NADRA clarified that its official visa portal remains https[:]//visa[.]nadra[.]gov[.]pk, and urged users to access services only through domains ending with .gov.pk to avoid falling victim to fraud.

The authority’s Information Security Department has been actively combating impersonation attempts. According to NADRA, nine fraudulent domains misusing its name have been identified and taken down in the past month. Citizens were advised to remain vigilant online and verify the authenticity of digital platforms before sharing personal information.

Separately, NADRA reiterated the legal validity of its digital identity documents, issued through the PakID platform. Spokesperson Shahbaz Ali noted that some authorities had requested physical copies of Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs), despite digital IDs carrying equal legal weight.

Under the NADRA Ordinance 2000 and the Digital Identity Regulations 2025, digital credentials, including CNICs, NICOPs, and POCs, are fully recognized as valid proof of identity, and government departments, regulated institutions, and other organisations are required to accept them.

The dual message from NADRA, warning about online fraud while reaffirming the credibility of digital IDs, underscores the authority’s focus on both cybersecurity and digital transformation of citizen services.
