Tehran: Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said in his first audio message that his father, former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, was martyred while reciting the Holy Quran on the 10th of Ramadan.
In his address to the nation, Mojtaba Khamenei described his father’s death as a martyrdom, saying the incident occurred during a period of heightened tensions and escalating conflict in the region.
He said the loss had deeply shocked the Iranian nation and urged citizens to remain patient and united during what he described as a difficult moment for the country.
The new leader appealed for national unity, stressing that Iran must stay strong in the face of challenges. He also made it clear that the country would continue its confrontation with its adversaries.
“Our nation will avenge the blood of its martyrs and will not bow to pressure,” he said, adding that Iran would remain steadfast against its enemies.
Ali Khamenei had been one of the most influential figures in Iran’s political and religious system for decades. His leadership shaped the country’s domestic governance and foreign policy, making him a central figure in the Islamic Republic’s power structure.
His death marks a major turning point for Iran as the country faces mounting regional tensions and political uncertainty.
