Muzaffargarh: In a groundbreaking move, district police in Muzaffargarh established a comprehensive shelter home tailored for homeless transgender individuals.

The newly opened shelter accommodates and supports 22 transgender residents, offering vital services and a secure environment.

DPO Haider, highlighting the initiative’s purpose, addressed the significant number of homeless transgender individuals in the district. The shelter ensures basic necessities like food, electricity, gas, and water, with plans for expansion to house up to 50 people if needed.

Shahana Abbas Shani, President of the She-Male Association, praised the DPO’s commitment. Alongside essential provisions, the shelter provides skill development programs in sewing, embroidery, and cooking.

Shahana emphasized, “This comprehensive approach aims to empower residents, equipping them with skills for self-sufficiency and societal contribution.”

Residents expressed gratitude, acknowledging the shelter’s positive impact on their lives. “Beyond offering a comfortable living space, it feels like home, with clean surroundings, cozy beds, and nutritious meals.
