Musk Meets Iran’s UN Ambassador: What’s Next?

New York: Elon Musk, the tech billionaire closely allied with US President-elect Donald Trump, met with Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, in an effort to ease tensions between Tehran and Washington, according to a report by The New York Times on Thursday.

Anonymous Iranian sources described the meeting as “positive.” The two reportedly met for over an hour at a secret location on Monday. Neither the Trump transition team nor Iran’s mission to the United Nations confirmed the meeting, with Iran’s mission declining to comment.

If confirmed, the meeting could signal that Trump is serious about pursuing diplomacy with Iran, rather than adopting the more hawkish stance favored by many conservatives in his Republican Party and Israel.

It also highlights Musk’s influence, as the owner of Tesla and X has frequently been seen alongside Trump, reportedly participating in calls with world leaders.
