Murree: Murree Police have unveiled a new “Safe Tourism App” aimed at transforming tourist safety through advanced technology, in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

District Police Officer (DPO) Murree, Dr Muhammad Raza Tanveer, told reporters on Sunday that the app, developed to international standards, would serve as a 24/7 “Virtual Tourist Guide” for visitors to the hill station.

Dr Tanveer explained that the platform integrates multiple departments—including Police, Rescue 1122, District Administration, Traffic Police, Motorway Police, and the Meteorological Department, into a single digital interface.

Tourists can access emergency services immediately and receive real-time weather and traffic updates.

The app also features a “Virtual Women Police Station” to prioritize the safety of women and families. An AI-powered chatbot provides instant guidance on navigation, travel conditions, and routes.

Smart Features for Convenient Tourism

To enhance accountability and quick response, a “Text to DPO” feature allows tourists to report complaints or emergencies directly via WhatsApp. The app also includes a “Smart Tourism Directory” with GPS-enabled locations of police stations, hotels, hospitals, workshops, and verified recreational sites.

Dr Tanveer said the initiative “seeks to safeguard Murree’s tradition of hospitality through modern technology. Our goal is to ensure tourists return home with pleasant memories.”

The Safe Tourism App is now available on the Google Play Store, and visitors, both domestic and international, are encouraged to download it before traveling to Murree for a safe and well-organized trip.
