Rawalpindi: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Murree has issued an alert in response to forecasts of heavy rainfall, hailstorms, and potential flooding in rivers and canals, aiming to ensure timely relief operations in any emergency situation.

According to a news release from the Directorate of Public Relations (DPR), rescue personnel have been deployed at key locations along with emergency equipment and resources to respond promptly to any untoward incidents.

Citizens have been strongly advised to take precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain or hailstorms. The alert also highlights the increased risk of road accidents under such conditions, urging motorists to drive cautiously.

In the event of lightning or storms, people are warned against taking shelter inside vehicles and advised to stay clear of rainwater drains due to the heightened risk of flooding. The public has also been cautioned to avoid contact with electric poles, metal pipes, and electrical appliances, as exposure to moisture could lead to electrocution.

The emergency service further urged residents not to stay in old or structurally compromised buildings during heavy rainfall. It emphasized the importance of adequate rainwater drainage systems and advised against constructing homes in low-lying areas or within the path of rainwater drains.
