Murree Authorities Geared Up for Snowfall Season

Rawalpindi: Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatta of Rawalpindi Division has issued orders to the Murree district administration to swiftly complete all arrangements for the upcoming snowfall season by December 15.
During a recent visit to Murree alongside Regional Police Officer Rawalpindi Syed Khurram Ali, Commissioner Chatta inspected facility centers at Lower Topa and Jhika Gali, reviewing the finalized arrangements.
Deputy Commissioner of Murree, Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, received directives to ensure comprehensive preparations ahead of the snowfall. Commissioner Chatta was also given a detailed briefing regarding the initiatives aimed at facilitating tourists.
Emphasizing security and traffic management, the Commissioner mandated the digital counting of vehicles entering Murree during snowfall, restricting entry for vehicles beyond capacity. Plans for a specialized shuttle service akin to last year were announced for the snow season.Thirteen facility centers, along with a dedicated control room, have been established across Murree to assist tourists. Commissioner Chatta also enforced a three-month ban on construction activities and a prohibition on motorcycles entering the motorway from December 15 to February 15.
Officials at facility centers have been assigned duties to guide and aid tourists, with all departments maintaining 24-hour readiness during snowfall. The Commissioner stressed the need to keep snow removal machinery operational and deployed at key points, urging swift completion of the bypass u-turn construction to prevent disruptions during snowfall.
To enhance the aesthetics of Murree’s Mall Road, the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) received instructions for plantation work. Addressing infrastructure concerns, Commissioner Chatta demanded prompt repairs for faulty street lights and directed the administration to take legal action against tree cutting incidents.
Additionally, instructions were given to sprinkle salt on roads during snowfall to expedite clearance. Strict enforcement of the traffic management plan was emphasized by Commissioner Chatta.
The Commissioner lauded the district administration’s efforts in facilitating tourists, echoed by the Regional Police Officer who assured foolproof security arrangements. During snowfall, police personnel will work in shifts to assist tourists, ensuring their safety.
The combined efforts of various departments under the Commissioner’s directives aim to enhance tourist experiences while prioritizing safety and efficient management during the snowfall season.
