Multan Sultans Seek Reconciliation With PCB, Propose Reforms
News Desk
Islamabad: Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans has reached out to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in an effort to ease recent tensions, proposing a series of reforms aimed at improving the league’s governance, transparency, and long-term sustainability.
In a detailed statement, the franchise acknowledged the recent dispute between the two parties, which saw Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen publicly tear up a legal notice issued by the PCB over alleged breaches of clauses in its 10-year contract. Despite the disagreement, Tareen emphasized the need to rebuild trust and establish a more professional system to elevate the PSL’s management and reputation.
Reaffirming his franchise’s commitment to the league, Tareen said the proposals were designed to strengthen institutional processes and ensure accountability within the PSL’s operational framework.

Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Tareen shared a copy of the letter sent to PCB Chairman, expressing optimism for “a fresh relationship built on cooperation and trust.”
“Even though tearing the notice was quite satisfying, it’s time to move forward,” Tareen wrote. “In recognition of the PSL as a national asset, we’re putting grievances aside and aiming for a fresh relationship with the board — one built on transparency, cooperation and trust.”
The letter outlined four key reforms proposed by Multan Sultans:
Franchise representation on PSL committees and working groups;
Structured hiring for key PSL management roles;
A professional management framework with clear accountability; and
Regular performance and financial reporting to franchises.
Tareen said the suggested measures would ensure the PSL’s continued growth and credibility, adding that collaboration between franchises and the PCB was vital for the league’s success both domestically and internationally.
