Islamabad: As a thick blanket of fog continued to envelop various parts of the country, severely reducing visibility on roads and highways, the Motorway Police issued a warning to motorists on Thursday, advising them to exercise extreme caution while travelling through fog-affected areas.

With dense fog covering several parts of the country, particularly in the morning, a Motorway spokesperson, speaking to a private news channel, urged drivers to use alternative routes, such as the Grand Trunk (GT) Road, to avoid hazardous conditions on the motorway.

Drivers were also cautioned to reduce their speed and switch on their fog lights to ensure safe travel. The spokesperson warned that reduced visibility due to fog could lead to accidents and urged motorists to take necessary precautions to avoid any untoward incidents.

Additionally, motorists were advised to follow the instructions of Motorway police personnel deployed at various points along the motorway to ensure smooth and safe travel.

In an effort to further safeguard the public, the spokesperson appealed to the general public to avoid unnecessary travel and stay indoors until the fog clears. This precautionary measure is aimed at minimizing the risk of accidents and ensuring public safety.

By staying off the roads, individuals can significantly reduce their exposure to hazardous driving conditions, thereby protecting themselves and their loved ones from potential harm.
