Lahore: The Met Office forecasts another monsoon spell in most parts of the country, including the provincial capital, from Wednesday to Monday.
Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Spokesman said that monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea are likely to penetrate the upper and central parts of the country from the 12th of July (evening) which are likely to intensify on July 14.
A westerly wave is also likely to enter upper parts on the 14th (evening or night), and under the influence of these weather systems, rain, wind and thundershowers (with a few heavy falls) are likely in most parts of the country, including Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Kasur, Okara, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum, from the 12th (evening or night) to the 17th (evening or with occasional gaps).
Rain/wind-thundershower (with a few heavy falls) is predicted in Mianwali, Khusab, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh from July 13th (evening or night) to July 17th, with occasional gaps.
Rain or wind-thundershowers are also expected in D.G. Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Bhakkar, Layyah, and Kot Addu from July 14 (evening or night) to July 16.
The Met Office also informed that heavy rain may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Gujranwala and Lahore from July 14 to 17, and may trigger landslides in the vulnerable and hilly areas of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
While tourists and travellers are recommended to exercise additional caution to prevent any dangerous situations during the wet spell, farmers are advised to manage their activities in light of the prediction.
The general public is urged to shelter in place during wind storms or heavy rains as loose infrastructure like solar panels and utility poles may be damaged.
