Monsoon rains claim three deaths in past 24 hours: NDMA

ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Saturday reported that three more deaths were recorded across the country due to monsoon rains in the past 24 hours.

According to an NDMA spokesperson in a press release, the country’s rain deluge caused a total of 552 fatalities and 628 injuries. The preliminary report of damages stated that 49,778 houses were damaged as well.

The Prime Minister has formed a high-level committee to monitor the relief activities, whereas rescue and relief operations were underway in flood-affected areas. The NDMA has also sent more relief items to Lasbela including tents, tarpaulins and generators. Moreover, welfare organizations are continuing to provide ration to the victims of Lasbela and Quetta.

Meanwhile, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Saturday issued instructions to ensure the supply of 32 truckloads of relief goods to the flood victims of Balochistan in the next 24 hours.
