Mohsin Naqvi Ensures Timely Passports for Overseas Pakistanis

London: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has responded swiftly to concerns over delays in passport issuance for overseas Pakistanis, instituting measures to ensure timely processing.

Notably, urgent passports will now be issued within seven days, a significant improvement from the previous time frame of one and a half months.

Furthermore, normal passports for Pakistanis residing in abroad will be expedited, with issuance guaranteed within 30 days.

Minister Naqvi’s proactive approach was evident during his visit to passport and NADRA centers in London, where he emphasized the intolerability of delays in passport issuance.

He underscored his commitment to holding accountable any officials failing to adhere to the new timeline, establishing a monitoring cell headed by his PSOASP Shahr Bano.

This cell will address complaints from overseas Pakistanis who do not receive their passports within the stipulated period.

Acknowledging the commendable performance of NADRA staff, Minister Naqvi expressed appreciation and reassurance to the overseas community.

He also addressed staffing shortages within NADRA, directing effective management to ensure timely service delivery.

During his visit, Minister Naqvi engaged with overseas Pakistanis to understand their challenges firsthand, accompanied by Pakistani High Commissioner in Britain, Dr Muhammad Faisal.

The minister’s hands-on approach signals a concerted effort to enhance services for the Pakistani diaspora and underscores the government’s commitment to addressing their needs promptly and efficiently.
