Islamabad: Proceedings in the alleged abuse case of a minor domestic worker, Rizwana, were adjourned on Saturday after the presiding judge was unavailable at the District and Sessions Courts in Islamabad.
The hearing could not proceed due to the absence of Civil Judge Mubashir Hassan Chishti, resulting in the matter being postponed until March 14.
According to court records, the case pertains to alleged violence against Rizwana, a minor who was employed as a domestic worker. The case was registered at Humak Police Station.
The trial has faced delays due to the repeated non-appearance of prosecution witnesses. During the previous hearing, the court had issued arrest warrants for the witnesses after they failed to comply with summons orders. Despite repeated directives, they have yet to appear before the court, hindering progress at the evidence stage.
The court had instructed the prosecution to ensure the presence of its witnesses to move the case forward. The matter will now be taken up on March 14, when the court is expected to review compliance with its earlier orders and determine the next course of action.
