News Desk
Karachi: The Ministry of Human Rights and its directorates in all the provinces are vigorously taking initiatives for the protection of human rights, along with the rights of women and children, which is our top priority, stated Ministry of Human Rights Caretaker Federal Minister Khalil George.
While talking at the launching ceremony of the second ‘National Media Fellowship on Gender Based Violence and Child Marriages’ on Wednesday, Khalil urged the media to raise incidents of human rights violations and assured that the ministry will take necessary action in this regard.
Federal Minister also stressed the need for reporting with responsibility and confirmation of facts and figures before making news.
Minister also paid tribute to the martyrs of the Armed Forces on the occasion of Defence Day. The valiant sons of the homeland make the entire nation proud of their remarkable courage and not only defend the country from the aggression of the enemy but also blow out their installations in the territory of the enemy, he asserted.
While responding to questions about elections, George stated that the caretaker set up is endowed with the responsibility of making arrangements for the conduct of elections, but it is the constitutional mandate of the Election Commission of Pakistan to announce the dates for general elections and ensure a free and fair election.
On a query about the Jaranwala incident, Minister Khalil informed that 200 miscreants were found involved in the incident, and 128 of them were nabbed on the very first day.
Caretaker Minister vowed and said that when a few extremists set ablaze the houses of the Christian community in Jaranwala, there were hundreds of Muslims there to help out the victims. It demonstrates the exemplary relationship between the majority and minority communities of Pakistan, he added.
Pakistan is our motherland, where minority communities enjoy equal rights, and such incidents conspired by the extremist elements to sow the seeds of division and hatred could not achieve their wicked objectives, George remarked.
Khalil George further said that Kashmir was termed the jugular vein of Pakistan by the founder of the nation and the government has and will always keep supporting the people of Kashmir and their demand for the right to self-determination at every forum.
In the current caretaker setup, Kahmiri Leader Yaseen Malik wife Mishal Malik is included in the caretaker cabinet as a Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Human Rights to express our resolve with the just and fair cause of Kashmiri people, informed Khalil.
