Millions of Muslims Prepare for Spiritual Seclusion in Itikaaf Retreat
News Desk
Islamabad: Millions of devout Muslims will engage in a spiritual retreat known as ‘Itikaaf’ starting after the Asr prayer on Sunday.
Itikaaf is a practice observed during the last 10 days of the holy month of Ramadan, where individuals seek seclusion to pray for the blessings of Allah and follow the example set by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
During Itikaaf, which translates to “devotion to a thing and sticking to it,” men typically seclude themselves in mosques, while women do so within their homes, dedicating themselves to prayer.
Mosques across the country have made special arrangements to accommodate men observing Itikaaf.
Additionally, some mosques, along with philanthropists, have organized arrangements for Sehri (pre-dawn meal) and Iftar (breaking of fast) for those participating in Itikaaf.
This year, approximately 300 individuals are expected to observe Itikaaf in the iconic Faisal Mosque in Islamabad, while in Lahore, hundreds more will participate in Itikaaf at various mosques including Data Sahib Mosque, Badshahi Mosque, and Minhajul Quran Mosque.
