Millions Experience Log-Outs on Meta-Owned Platforms

Islamabad: On March 5th, after 8 PM, Facebook, Threads, and Instagram experienced a global logout issue, including in Pakistan, due to undisclosed technical problems.
Users worldwide faced difficulties logging in despite attempts to do so.
The Verge reported widespread service disruptions across Meta-owned platforms, although WhatsApp remained unaffected.
Users on both mobile and desktop platforms were automatically logged out of their Facebook, Threads, and Instagram accounts due to these technical glitches.
Despite efforts, users were unable to log back in, sparking concerns about potential security breaches involving millions of users’ passwords and personal information.
Variety noted that Facebook and Instagram accounts globally were logged out after 8 PM on March 5th, leading to widespread access issues for users.
Downdetector, an organisation monitoring internet services, reported numerous complaints on March 5th about the service disruptions affecting Meta-owned platforms, including Facebook, Threads, and Instagram.
Users primarily reported difficulties in automatically logging out of their accounts and subsequent log-in attempts.
Before the disruptions on Facebook, Threads, and Instagram, Twitter experienced service outages in Pakistan for the preceding two weeks.
