Microsoft Announces Xbox Price Hike in US From October 3
News Desk
Washington: Microsoft has announced another increase in the price of its Xbox consoles in the United States, effective October 3, 2025, citing changes in the global economic environment.
The new pricing will affect all models of the Xbox Series X and Series S lineup. The company said the adjustments are linked to broader macroeconomic pressures, including tariffs imposed under the Trump administration.
The updated prices are as follows:
- Xbox Series S (512GB): $399.99 (up $20)
- Xbox Series S (1TB): $449.99
- Xbox Series X Digital: $599.99
- Xbox Series X: $649.99
Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition: $799.99 (up $200 from launch price last year)
This is the second Xbox price hike in 2025, following a global adjustment in May. The move reflects a wider industry trend, with Sony raising PlayStation 5 prices earlier this year and Nintendo increasing the cost of its original Switch model.
The timing is notable as the Xbox Series X and Series S approach their fifth anniversary. Analysts suggest the higher prices may be difficult for budget-conscious gamers, particularly ahead of the holiday season, when discounts are likely to be slimmer.
Microsoft has also hinted at ongoing development of its next-generation Xbox, which may influence consumer decisions on whether to purchase now or wait for future hardware.
