Islamabad: A young Metro Bus security guard, Muhammad Waseem, died after being struck by a bus at Shaheed-e-Millat Station, reportedly following three consecutive shifts without rest.
According to an official from the Metro Bus administration, Waseem — a resident of Abbottabad — was deployed at the station as part of routine security arrangements. He was fatally hit by a bus during operational hours and died on the spot. His body was shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for medico-legal formalities.
Sources close to the administration revealed that Waseem had been working continuously for three days in an effort to accumulate leave. His wife is expecting their first child, and he had reportedly planned to take time off for her delivery and postnatal care.
CCTV footage from the station is currently under review, and an investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact cause and circumstances of the incident. Statements from staff and eyewitnesses are also being recorded.
The Metro Bus administration expressed condolences to Waseem’s family and stated that operational safety protocols would be reassessed to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
