Meta VP Discusses AI, IT Opportunities with PM Shehbaz

Islamabad: A five-member delegation from Meta, led by Vice President for Asia Pacific Simon Milner, met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday to explore potential collaboration opportunities in Information Technology (IT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Pakistan.
During the discussion, the Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan’s significant potential in the IT and digital media sectors. He also highlighted the record budget allocated for the first time in the country’s history to promote information technology.
The Prime Minister expressed a desire to leverage Meta’s expertise in IT and AI and instructed the relevant authorities to address and resolve any issues related to Meta’s operations in Pakistan.
The Meta delegation provided an overview of the company’s services in Pakistan and the Asia Pacific region. They also highlighted their organization of the region’s first artificial intelligence competition in Pakistan.
Both sides reiterated their commitment to working together to advance and promote the digital media and AI sectors in Pakistan.
The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecom Shaza Fatima, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Jehanzeb Khan, Tania Aidrus, and other senior government officials.
