Islamabad: Meta announced the launch of a new monetization initiative designed to streamline and broaden earning opportunities for content creators on Facebook.

The newly introduced Facebook Content Monetization beta merges three existing monetization programs—In-stream ads, Ads on Reels, and the Performance Bonus—into a single, cohesive system.

Meta reports that the consolidation aims to simplify the monetization process, allowing creators to generate revenue from various content formats, including Reels, longer videos, photos, and text posts.

This move is part of Facebook’s ongoing commitment to support its creator community, which has seen over 4 million content creators earn money through the platform since the introduction of monetization funding in 2017.

In the past year alone, Facebook has disbursed more than $2 billion to content creators for videos, reels, photos, and text posts, with payouts for reels and short videos increasing by over 80 percent during that time.

The new Facebook Content Monetization program addresses a critical challenge for creators, as previous programs had different eligibility requirements and sign-up processes. This complexity often resulted in creators missing out on potential earnings.

Currently, only about one-third of monetizing creators on Facebook earn from more than one funding program. The new initiative aims to increase this number by offering a simplified process and broader earning opportunities.

Creators participating in the beta program will only need to enroll in one program to monetize multiple content formats. They will also have access to a unified set of insights for tracking performance across different content types.

The payout model will remain consistent with the performance-based systems used in the previous programs, with earnings still linked to the performance of eligible content.

The initial phase of the beta program is invitation-only, with Meta sending invitations to one million existing monetizing creators on Facebook. Although open enrollment is not anticipated until 2025, creators can express interest in receiving early access invitations through the Facebook for Creators platform.

Meta plans for the new Facebook Content Monetization program to ultimately replace the existing Ads on Reels, In-Stream Ads, and Performance Bonus programs by 2025. During the beta phase, invited creators will have the option to opt into the new program.

To qualify for monetization, creators must ensure their content complies with Meta’s policies, including adherence to Facebook’s Partner Monetization Policies and Content Monetization Policies.

The launch of the Facebook Content Monetization program marks a significant advancement in Meta’s efforts to empower content creators, providing them with a simplified monetization process and enhanced earning opportunities across various content formats.
