Cold Snap Grips Pakistan; Snow and Rain Hit Northern Regions

Islamabad: Mainly cold and dry weather is expected across most parts of Pakistan on Tuesday, according to the Meteorological Department. 

However, isolated rain and light snowfall may occur in Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Murree, Galiyat, and nearby areas.

In the federal capital, Islamabad, residents can expect cold and partly cloudy conditions, with light rain or drizzle possible at isolated locations during the afternoon and evening.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is likely to experience predominantly cold and dry weather, with light rain or snowfall at isolated places including Mansehra, Abbottabad, Battagram, Kohistan, Dir, Swat, and surrounding areas. 

Most districts in Punjab will remain cold and dry, though Narowal, Sialkot, Jhelum, and nearby areas may see partly cloudy conditions with occasional light rain or drizzle. Murree, Galiyat, and surrounding regions are forecast to experience cold and cloudy weather, with light rain or snowfall expected mainly during the afternoon and evening.

Cold and dry conditions will prevail across Sindh, while Balochistan will mostly remain cold and dry, with the northern districts experiencing very cold weather. 

In Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, very cold and cloudy conditions with light rain or snowfall are anticipated.

Over the past 24 hours, cold and dry weather was reported across most parts of the country, accompanied by partly cloudy skies in the upper and central regions. Isolated rainfall was recorded in Kashmir, Zhob, Khuzdar, and Pattan. 

The highest rainfall amounts were reported from Garhi Dupatta in Kashmir (7mm), Zhob (5mm), Khuzdar (2mm), and Pattan (1mm). The lowest temperatures were recorded in Leh (-8°C), Kalam (-7°C), Gupis (-6°C), Malam Jabba (-5°C), Skardu (-5°C), and Astore (-4°C).

Partly Cloudy Weather Forecast in Lahore

Lahore continued to experience partly cloudy weather on Tuesday, with similar conditions expected over the next 24 hours, according to the Meteorological Office (MET).

MET officials reported that a shallow westerly wave is prevailing over the northern and western regions of the country. They said that mainly cold and dry weather is expected across most parts of Pakistan, though isolated cloudy conditions with light rain or snowfall may occur in Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Murree, Galiyat, and surrounding areas.

On Monday, the lowest temperature was recorded in Leh at minus 8 degrees Celsius, while Lahore recorded a minimum of 11 degrees Celsius.

Met Office Predicts Cold, Dry Weather Across Sindh

 The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Monday forecast cold and dry weather in most districts of Sindh over the next 24 hours.

According to the PMD, predominantly cold and dry conditions are expected to prevail across the province during this period.
