Met Office Forewarns Dengue Outbreak Till Dec 5

News Desk

Peshawar: The Met Office has warned of a possible outbreak of dengue fever during the post-monsoon season up until December 5.

Pakistan Meteorological Department(PMD) Deputy Director Dr Shahzada Adnan issued a letter stating that there are chances of a dengue fever outbreak in the current month, especially in Peshawar and adjoining districts.

Dr Shahzada said that dengue triggers occur during the post-monsoon season, especially in areas where the temperature and humidity threshold remain 26 to 29°C, and 60 percent, respectively.

Breeding stops once the temperature falls below 16°C and the late retreat of the monsoon is providing an ideal environment for a dengue outbreak, he added.

The official advised all the stakeholders and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to take precautionary measures to prevent the disease outbreak.
